State of Safety Action, an anti-gun advocacy group, submitted 2,000 signatures to the Oregon Secretary of State on September 18. However, State of Safety Action will still need to gather at least 112,000 signatures by July 2 to secure a spot on the 2020 ballot
If approved by voters, the law would require gun owners to store AND transport their firearms with a trigger lock or in a locked container. Additionally, it would mandate that gun owners who have had their gun stolen must report the loss to police within 24 hours or face liability for any crimes committed with the gun.
